Westlake, LA – Andrew McGowan, Jr. passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014 in a local Westlake hospital.
He was born in Lake Charles, LA but had lived in Westlake for the past 34 years. He was an electrical engineer and had last worked for Sasol. He taught flying in both fixed wing and rotor craft and loved anything electrical. An accomplishment of his was winning the Calcasieu Parish Science Fair seven years in a row, which eventually took him to the Seattle World's Fair in Seattle, Washington. He was a devoted family man who loved his wife, daughter and two granddaughters.
He is survived by his wife, Karla Smith McGowan of Westlake, LA (formerly of Millport, AL); a daughter, Emerald Lemmons and husband Eric; and granddaughters Lily and Zara all of Abilene, Texas.
Services were held Saturday, June 7 at Hixon Funeral Home of Westlake. Bro. Craig Peters and Bro. Ira Fontenot officiated.
Graveside services were held Monday, June 9, at Millport City Cemetery with Dowdle Funeral Home of Millport, AL directing.
