Arthur Lee Foster, affectionately known as "John" or "Big Art", was the son of the late Willie Foster and Dona Mae.  He was born in Pickens County and raised in Lamar County, Alabama.  Later, he met the love of his life, Mamie Lou Young, of Kennedy, and the two were united in holy matrimony on August 24, 1950.  The couple later moved to Chicago, Illinois to raise their family.
John was a loving husband and the "best Dad the world ever knew" according to his son, Arthur Jr.  John absolutely loved people.  His vibrant and outgoing personality, smooth dance moves and warm sense of humor drew many to him.  He was always kind and generous to everyone he met.  He was a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.  Above all, John loved God and was very active with helping his community.

John is preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Lou Foster; son, former U.S. District Judge William Hibbler; his parents, Willie Foster and Dona Mae; siblings: Ernestine Foster, Clodene Palmore, Maddie Ree Johnson, Lizzie Lou Guyton, Vernie Mae Eatmon, Annie Jo Payne, Junior Guyton and Willie Foster, Jr.
