Barbara
Conner
February 5, 1940 – April 21, 2026
Barbara Gail Wiggins Conner, age 86, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. She lived a long and meaningful life defined by her strength, kindness, and deep love for her family. Above all, Barbara was a woman of unwavering faith, walking closely with her Savior and living a life that reflected His love. Those who knew her recognized the quiet anointing on her life—she carried His presence with grace, humility, and steadfast devotion.
Barbara, better known to everyone as “Bobo,” was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend whose presence brought comfort and joy to those around her. She had a quick wit that could light up any room and a caring heart that made everyone feel seen and loved. To those who knew her best, she was also fiercely independent—a strength that defined the way she lived and loved. She spent her life caring for others, giving of herself in ways both big and small. Her beauty was not only outward, but deeply rooted within—a reflection of her gentle spirit, strong faith, and genuine love for people.
Bobo will be remembered for her beautiful talent at the piano, her love of singing, and the joy she found in cooking from scratch alongside “Ms. Brenda.” She was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Kennedy, AL, where she could often be found behind the piano, using her gifts to serve the Lord she loved so dearly. Her life was a melody of kindness, resilience, and devotion that will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her. She always had a story to tell or a quick trivia fact she had just read to share, often paired with a perfectly timed bit of humor that made her so uniquely herself. Her sense of fashion was unmatched, always completing every outfit with the perfect shoes and earrings.
She found happiness in the simple things—time with family, sharing stories, cooking, and creating lasting memories with those closest to her. Barbara’s legacy is one of faith, love, and quiet strength. It lives on not only in the lives she touched, but in the example she set—of a life well-lived for the Lord and for others.
She is survived by her son, Gregory Don Conner (Sarah) of Jasper, AL; her granddaughter, Jordan Brooke Conner of Auburn, AL; one step-grandson, Michael Tedford (Abby), and one step-great-granddaughter, Blair Tedford, both of Jasper, AL; her sister, Gloria Wiggins Vice of Kennedy, AL; three nieces, Karen Vice Tomin (Danny) and Pamela Vice Lindsey, both of Kennedy, AL, and Kelli Vice Butler (Chad) of McCalla, AL; along with a host of great-nieces and nephews and three great-great-nephews who loved her dearly. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Cecil Conner; her mother, Sally Trull Wiggins; and her father, Edward Stephen Wiggins.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, AL, with Brother Ed Nabors officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Kennedy, AL. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate her life. Barbara will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A personal note:To her granddaughter, she was not only a Nana, but a steady source of love, wisdom, and faith—a guiding light whose legacy will be carried forward with deep gratitude and love.
