IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bebe H.
Newman
June 23, 1930 – July 26, 2020
Mrs. Bebe Joy Hydrick Newman, age 90 of Millport, Alabama, passed away on July 26, 2020. Mrs. Newman loved her family and touched many lives in her 90 years.
Mrs. Newman was born on June 23, 1930, in Millport, Alabama, to Mr. Roy Lee and Mrs. Ava Dobson Hydrick. She attended and graduated from Millport High School before earning her Bachelor's degree from Florence State Teachers College. Mrs. Newman later earned her Master's degree in Library Media from the University of Alabama. Mrs. Newman served as a lifelong educator and filled various roles throughout her career.
Mrs. Newman married Mr. Max Newman of Fayette, Alabama, and they went on to have four children: David, Jeff, Anne, and Michelle. While their careers in education carried them to other parts of the state for several years, Millport was always home. Mrs. Newman was also a lifelong member of Propst Memorial United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, served in the choir, and played the piano throughout the years.
Mrs. Newman is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Max, and her daughter, Anne Rector. Mrs. Newman's survivors include the following: David Newman of Vernon, Alabama, (wife, Linda, deceased), his children, Lee Newman and Leah Kendrick (Shawn Kendrick); Jeff Newman of Millport, Alabama, his wife Brenda, and their children, Crystal Newman (Phillip McNees) and Lisa Newman Wright (Lane Wright); Marty Rector of Millport, Alabama, (wife, Anne, deceased), his children, Laura Bobbitt (Lance Bobbitt) and Megan Estes (Kaleb Estes); Michelle Lange of Reform, Alabama, her husband, David, and her children, Katie Beth Smith and Collin Smith. Mrs. Newman also has eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Newman loved her family like no other and will be greatly missed.
A private graveside service will be held for the family due to the pandemic. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Propst Memorial United Methodist Church. Your thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated.
