Obituary

Benny Paul Mordecai, of Millport, Al passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. He was 72.

He was born August 3, 1944, to William Paul  and Francis Leola Blanton Mordecai. He was a graduate of Millport High School, a member of Alabama National Guard, the Millport and Lamar County Sports Hall of Fame, Springhill  Baptist Church, a Gideon and a avid fisherman, who wet many a hook on the Tenn Tom Waterway. He retired from Weyerhaeuser. In death as in life, Benny cared about other people. He donated his body to medical research in hope of finding a cure for Pulmonary Fibrosis.

He is survived y his wife of 52 years, Peggy Leonard Mordecai, of Millport, his daughters, Amanda Mordecai of Millport and ANgie (Jeff( Banks of Berry: grandchildren, Emily Banks and David Banks of Berry, sister, Gail (Dan) Gartman, brother, Terry (Kathy) Mordecai: brothers-in-law, Larry (Charolyn) Leonard, George (Sherri) Leonard: Aunts and Uncles, Betty Seal McCullough, Max and Mary Ann Blanton, all of Millport and Kathryn Leonard of Columbus: nine nephews, four nieces and a host of extended family, friends an co-workers.

Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Cameron Huxford, Dr. Brett Brown, Alabama Hospice Care, Larry Smith.
