IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bernice
Bryant
May 12, 1933 – January 20, 2022
Bernice Bryant, Meme, age 88, of Millport, Alabama, went to join her Savior Thursday, January 20, 2022 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, Alabama with Bro. Raymond Spann officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow at Meadow Branch Cemetery in Kennedy, AL. where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband of 63 years.
Mrs. Bryant was born in Kennedy, Alabama to the late Fred and Roberta Moore on May 12, 1933. She graduated from Kennedy High School in 1951 and then went on to the University of Alabama where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education to teach Home Economics. She married the love of her life, Floyd Lee Bryant on July 11, 1957. Mrs. Bryant began her teaching career at Red Bay High School, then went on to teach at Kennedy High School for 30 years, finishing her last year in education at South Lamar High School, with a total of 32 years in education. She retired with the intention of keeping and caring for her grandchildren, which is exactly what she did for the next 30 years. Mrs. Bryant was a very loved educator with hundreds of students who loved her dearly and always claimed that she never aged every time they saw her. But no love could compare to that of her son, daughter-in-law, two granddaughters and great-grandchildren for this amazing lady.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Floyd Lee Bryant, her mother and father, Fred and Roberta Moore, two brothers, Joe Moore and Jerry Moore and many extended family members and friends who she longed to see again in Heaven.
She is survived by her only child, son and handyman, Floyd Keith Bryant (Dawn), her two granddaughters that were her world, Jessica Watkins (Andrew) and Katlyn Norton (Jonathan), two great-grandchildren who were the light of her life, Carlee Watkins and Bryant Norton, her brother, Freddy Max Moore (Lavonne), sister, Clara Jean Mordecai, sister-in-law and traveling companion, Lois Moore, sister-in-law Gail Fields (Waymon) and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved and adored.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Watkins, Jonathan Norton, Stanley Rushing, Kent Moore, Mike Burks, Todd Bryant, Andrew Bryant and Mark Bryant.
The legacy that Mrs. Bryant leaves behind is one that is unforgettable. She was a strong, independent woman at the age of 88 and loved her family fiercely. Her memory will live on through her family in the years to come. Meme will be greatly missed as the patriarch of our family, she is a irreplaceable person in our lives. Knowing she has finally made it to Heaven to spend eternity with Jesus gives our family peace and comfort. We will see you again in Heaven, Meme. Until then, we will live our lives for the Lord and spread His love to others as you did here on this earth.
