Obituary

Betty Suggs, 82, of Millport, AL, passed away May, 4, 2022 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, Alabama.

Betty was born on January 13, 1940 in Clewiston, Florida and was of Seminole Indian decent. Betty was a person of many skills; a talented seamstress, an accomplished cook of different origins around the world and to prove it, she cooked a lot of food for the people of Millport at the Millport Diner, near the train tracks. She didn't attend church on a regular basis but she always carried God in her heart.

Betty was a loyal and loving wife to Bill, her husband of 66 years. She was a military wife for 23 years and raised her children while her husband fought for our country and for our freedom. She would do without so her children could have what they needed. One of her favorite quotes was     "God does not give you what you can handle. He helps you handle what you are given". May she rest in peace when she meets Jesus!

She is survived by her husband, William Suggs, Jr., a son, William Suggs, III, a daughter, Patricia Carol Porter, sister Ida Cash and brother, Jimmy Parsons, 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Williams, a son, Eugene Wayne Suggs, a sister, Deanne Suggs Williams and 2 brothers, Thomas and Coot Parsons.

The family has chosen cremation.
