MILLPORT, Ala. — Billy Parker, 87, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.  Services were Friday at 11:00 am at Liberty Assembly of God, 268 Ruffin Road, in Millport, with Bro. Doug Blakney, Bro. Oscar Maddox, Bro. Dan Finney and Bro. Kenneth Henegar officiating. Burial followed at Andrews Chapel Cemetery with Dowdle Funeral Home of Millport directing. Mr. Parker was born in Pickens County, Alabama, on Dec. 26, 1926, to the late Willie Roy and Vera Byars Parker. He was formerly employed as a mechanic with Johnson Truck Leasing in Columbus and was a member of Liberty Assembly of God Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Clyde, Tillman, and Ross Parker and sisters Mary Mosley, Louise Harcrow, Jimmie Nell Lancaster and Betty Miller.
He is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Mary Nell Shaw Parker of Millport; daughters, Linda (Kenneth) Henegar of Millport, Joyce (Jerry) Green of Columbus and Melonie (Walter) Jolly of Ethelsville; sons, Michael (Debra) Parker of Fayette, Terry (Brenda) Parker of Ethelsville and Donald (Lorrie) Parker of Caledonia; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Ray Parker, Josh Gordey, Dusty Parker, Kjell Henegar, Bryan Elmore and Hank Norwood.
