IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bobby Joe
Crowley
January 6, 1949 – July 8, 2022
Bobby Joe Crowley, 73, of Kennedy, AL, passed away at Generations of Vernon on July 8, 2022. Visitation will be Monday, July 11, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, AL. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home with Bro. Ed Nabors officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Branch Cemetery in Kennedy, AL.
Bobby Joe was born and raised on Crowley Hill in Kennedy, Alabama and spent all of his life there except for the short stint his wife Lonnie made him move to Tuscaloosa, AL. He quickly decided that city life was not for him and "high-tailed" it straight back to Crowley Hill.
When Lonnie was in the hospital having their daughter, Amy, BJ decided he wanted to start a logging business so for a baby gift, he bought her logging equipment. He was a hard worker and took great pride in the fact that he turned that baby gift into a successful business that provides for his family even to this day.
Bobby Joe loved life. He was always up for a good laugh and enjoyed making others laugh. He never met a stranger. If he didn't know you, he would by the end of the conversation and you would feel like family.
BJ spent most of his life working in the woods, but when he finally retired, he spent his days drinking coffee and cutting up with his buddies at the Kennedy Express or on the river, fishing. If you ever went fishing with him, you know he was serious about his crappie rig and it was in your best interest to leave it alone!
BJ lived life to the fullest. Besides fishing, he enjoyed Alabama football, Nascar and all the country-western movies but most of all, he loved his people. His family and friends were life to him. The last couple of years, dementia robbed him of his memory but not the memories of those that loved him. To us, we will always remember "Good Ol' Bobby Joe".
He is survived by a son, Larry Crowley (Angie), a daughter, Amy Cook (John), grandsons Cade Crowley, Jake, Brady and Will Cook, a brother, Jimmy Don Crowley (Mary).
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lonnie(Sullivan) Crowley, his parents, Horace and Onnie Ray Crowley and a brother, Horace Ray Crowley.
Pallbearers are Cade Crowley, Jake Cook, Brady Cook, Will Cook, Kenny Strickland, Jeff Crowley, Grayson Lindsey, Shannon Kelley and Hagen Kelley.
