Obituary

Millport AL. Bobby Louis Kendrick, age 71, passed away at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL on November 12, 2014, following a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held at Dowdle Funeral Home, Millport, AL on Sunday November 16, 2014 at 12 PM with Funeral Services following at 2 PM. Pastor Max Bobbitt will officiate. Mr. Kendrick will be laid to rest at memorial Gardens Cemetery, Columbus, MS, next to his beloved parents and grandparents. Bobby was the only child born to the late J C and Louise Dendy Kendrick on March 10, 1943. He was a 1961 graduate of S.D. Lee High School. Bobby began working at an early age delivering newspapers and other jobs, developing a healthy work ethic that followed him throughout his life. Early in his career, he partnered with friend and mentor Rufus Ward Sr. to form Ward & Kendrick Tire store, which was open until the mid 1980's. He retired from Lowndes County Road Department in 2004 when his health deteriorated. Bobby was a member of Lions Club and a founding member of the Columbus Gun Club. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bobby and the family enjoyed camping, boating, and playing on jet skis. Bobby also loved riding motorcycles, and was a member of Goldwing Road Riders Association and Good Sam Camping Club.
Other than his parents, Bobby is predeceased by his beloved mother-in-law, Nelda McGahey Richards. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Bethany Richards Ferraez Kendrick; daughter Jennifer Leigh Kendrick; sons Jeremy (Cody) Ferraez of Helena, AL, and Chad (Kristin) Ferraez of Green Brook, NJ; six granddaughters: Bailey, Avianna, Gabriella, Taylor, Riley, and Emilia Ferraez. He is also survived by his father-in-law James W. Richards of Millport; brother-in-law Hoyt (Janice) Richards of Northport, AL; sister-in-law Denise (Mark) Richards Hicks of Moundville, AL; several nieces and nephews and many, many, friends. Pallbearers will be Wyman Richards, Gary Beard, Rick Love, Danny Shaw, Jeremy Ferraez and Chad Ferraez. Honorary Pallbearers: Jerry Thomas, Harold Berry, Klaus Cox
