Austin "Butch" Patrick, 74, of Gordo, Alabama was called home to be with the Lord Sunday, February 21, 2021 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Butch was born to Matthew "Mack" and Annie Ruth Mordecai Patrick on August 15, 1946 in Lamar County Alabama.
He grew up in Lamar County and graduated from Millport High School. After honorably serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam war he remained active in the National Guard upon his return home. He went on to work for Centurylink Phone Company where her retired after 42 years of dedicated service to his community.
Butch was a devoted member of Hannah United Methodist Church in Gordo, AL. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was loved by all those who knew him. During his retirement he enjoyed continuing his passion for turkey hunting and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jay Lee, Billy Paul, Charles and infant brother Jimmy.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Annie Zoe (Fair) Patrick of Gordo, his daughter, Cindy Patrick Shelton (Brian), Gordo, AL, grandchildren Kati Shelton and Cole Shelton of Gordo, AL, a brother Mike Patrick (Eva) of Millport, AL, a sister, Barbara Clarke, Northport, AL, many nieces and nephews and his loyal canine companion Heidi.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, AL. with Bro. Byron Fair officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the chapel. He will be laid to rest at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Fernbank, AL
Pallbearers are Mark Bonner, Ronnie Dudley, Daniel "Shep" Gibson, Matthew Patrick, Shane Patrick and Mitch Clark. Honorary pallbearer is Tony Patrick.
Special thank you to Southern Care Hospice, Kelly Hicks and Cartina, his loving caregivers Dot Harcrow, Skeet Ford, Kristy Parker Bailey, loving members of Hannah Methodist Church and friends and family of the Zion Community.
