Mr. Charles Walter Welch, 78 of Millport, Alabama passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, Mississippi.
Born Sunday, August 14, 1938 in Camden, Ohio to the late Edgar Welch and Alba Johnson Welch. He was the husband of the late Ginger Kuhns Welch. Mr. Welch was an avid fisherman, a golfer, a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and an expert marksman. He served in the Navy and though he did not have great education credentials, he rose though the ranks to be a great leader of men. Mr. Welch also had an extensive background in the lumber industry reaching from Montana to Alabama.
Surviving are sons, Donald Welch (Lynn) of Albany, OR and Daniel Welch of Albany , OR, daughters, Cheryl Hanslovan (Jeffery) of Albany, OR, and Amy McManus (Jeremy) of Fayettville , AK. 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sisters, Mary Ann Mustoe and Cecil Mynatt, and special friends, Derendia and Eugene Hutcherson.
Pallbearers will be Don Welch, Matt Hutcherson, Steve Hutcherson, Chester Shaw, Micky McKenzie, Emerson Mynatt, and Hunter McManus.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday May 31st, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Columbus, Mississippi with Bill Hurt officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior at 10:00 AM at the Church. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Columbus, Ms.
