Obituary

Cynthia Gay Vice Dollar, 77, of Kennedy, AL. passed away October 11, 2020 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, AL. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, AL with Bro. James Jackson and Bro. Ed Nabors officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the chapel. The family has requested that masks be worn and social distancing observed. Burial will be at Kennedy City Cemetery with Dowdle Funeral Home directing.

Cynthia was born on April 18, 1943 in Kennedy, AL. to Armon and Melba (Crowley) Vice.  She graduated from Kennedy High School in 1961 and later attended West End Beauty College in Birmingham. In 1962, she married John D. Dollar from Kennedy and they lived in Birmingham, AL. until 1971, when they moved back to Kennedy, AL. She worked at Louise's Beauty Shop in Millport and later owned her own shop called "A Touch of Class" in downtown Kennedy, where she worked for many years. She ran a full service shop. For her older customers, she would pick them up for their appointment, style their hair and then take them home!!

Cynthia was a Christian and a member of Kennedy Baptist Church in Kennedy, AL. where she served as a Sunday School teacher, a choir member and a member of the Women's Missionary Union. She was also the star of "Cynthia and the Hubcaps", a group that sang at special church functions. Cynthia loved the Lord. She loved people and never met a stranger. She loved to joke, laugh and have a good time. One of her favorite pastimes was cooking for family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Hellon Johnson, brothers Ray Vice and James Vice. She is survived by her husband, John D. Dollar, sons Darryl Dollar and Danny Dollar (Leanne), grandson D.J. Dollar and his special friend Kyndal Robertson and granddaughter Abbi Dollar Brown (Timber) and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Holsonback, Eddy Woods, Marty Vice, Mickey Watkins, Tom Stembridge and Fred Ray Savage.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Kennedy Cemetery Association at P.O.Box 152, Kennedy, AL. 35574
