Obituary
Daniel (Dan) George Groves, 74 of Millport, Alabama died on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at North Mississippi Medical Center Inpatient Hospice Unit in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Born Friday, August 22, 1941 in Titusville, Pennsylvania, to the late George and Ruth Farren Groves. He is preceded in death by his wife of almost 45 years Lois Vann Groves.
Surviving are step-children, Dennis Morgan of Millport, Dan Gibbs ( Kim) of Little Elm, TX, and Denise Seagraves ( Steve) of Caledonia, MS; sister, Eileen Lewis of Oakwood, GA; 6 grand children; 6 great grand children. Dan is also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews.
Dan graduated from Southwestern Central High School and Mohawk Valley Technical College in Jamestown, NY. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963-1967 on the USS Yorktown in Long Beach, CA. Mr Groves was of Methodist Faith and attended Celoron United Methodist Church while growing up in Jamestown, NY. He lived in Millport AL, for the last 21 years and retired from Marathon Equipment Company, Vernon, AL, in 2004 as a Sales Manager.
Dan enjoyed traveling and camping all over the country with his beloved wife Lois.
Pallbearers are Dennis Morgan, Dan Gibbs, Steve Seagraves Sr., Steven Seagraves Jr., Chad Seagraves, and Wiley Seagraves.
A Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday 01/07/2016 at Dowdle Funeral Home. Interment will be in Egger Cemetery, Caledonia, MS.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 PM prior to service at Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel.
