Danny Porter, age 71, of Kennedy, AL, died January 22, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 11:00 at Dowdle Funeral Home with Bro. Kenneth Stough officiating. Burial will follow at Kennedy City Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Danny was born on November 26, 1951, in Fayette, AL, to the late Amon and Willette Porter. He graduated from Kennedy High School in 1970. He was employed by Hyster/NACCO of Sulligent for forty-one years before his retirement in 2013. He enjoyed classic movies and TV shows, airplanes, and Alabama Football. He loved his family and friends, but he always said his grandson Liam was his favorite person in the world. Danny was a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sandy Cunningham.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Shirley Porter; one child, Cassie (Scotty) Carroll of Kennedy; one grandson, Liam Carroll; a brother, Tony Porter; and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Chase Cunningham, Scott Porter, Jason Porter, Roy Blanton, Jimmy Anderson and Steve Foster.
