Dorothy Mae Foster McDaniel, 95, of Kennedy, AL., passed away on March 12, 2023 at Fayette Long Term Care. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, AL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Graveside services will follow at Meadow Branch Cemetery in Kennedy, AL.

Dorothy was born October 2,1927 in Kennedy, Alabama to Garfield Edmund and Willie B. Rushing Foster. She graduated from Kennedy High School with the class of 1947.  Dorothy played basketball and was a cheerleader.  After graduation, she was employed at Millport Manufacturing and later by Sterlon Laboratories in Fayette, Alabama.  Dot was a founding member of the Kennedy Historical Society. In her spare time, she enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, and gardening in her flower beds. She was a long-time member of Meadow Branch Missionary Baptist Church and was a life-long resident of Kennedy, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years, Thurman Joe McDaniel, Sr.; siblings, Palmer Foster, Newton Foster, Charles Foster, Beatrice Kelly, Edith Mathis, Opal Bohannon, and son-in-law Steve McAdams.

She is survived by her children, Jay (Carol) McDaniel of Orlando, Florida, Charlotte McAdams of Newnan, Georgia, John (Wanda) McDaniel of Kennedy, Alabama.  Her grandchildren Andrew (Vanessa) McDaniel, Stephanie (Brent) Johnson, Ian McDaniel, Michael (Danielle) McDaniel, Daniel (Kristen) McAdams, Jeffrey McAdams, Megan (Matt) Castleberry, and Dillon (BJ) McDaniel. Great grandchildren Eli McDaniel, Hayden, Kennedy, and Jaxon Johnson, Kylie and Keegan McAdams, Tori (Tyler) Wilkins, Dax, Dre, and Arwen Castleberry, and Matthew McDaniel.

Pallbearers are Andrew McDaniel, Ian McDaniel, Michael McDaniel, Daniel McAdams, Jeffery McAdams and Dillon McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters, Megan McDaniel Castleberry and Stephanie McAdams Johnson.
