John Douglas Clardy, known as “Doug”, 72, of Millport, AL., passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family on April 15, 2026.

Doug was born in Millport, AL where he lived the majority of his life. As a young child, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with family. In his adult years, you could find him running his own computer business through which he served the local community, while also serving the larger community through his military service. In his retirement years, he was known and loved by many who interacted with him while working faithfully as a tool department representative at Lowe’s in Northport, AL.

Doug adored his family and is known by many as someone who loved to make others laugh, always a dependable person in which to find support. Doug was a strong believer in His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was highly passionate about spreading the Gospel through his involvement with Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Kennedy, AL and later in life with Friendship Baptist Church in Reform, AL.

Doug is preceded in death by his father, William Clardy; his mother, Clarice Weathers; his daughter, Sharon Clardy; his sister, Jean Jordan; and his brothers, Mack and Steve Clardy. Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy; daughter, Anna (Tyler); sons, John (Stacey) and Adam (Carmen); step-son, Chris (Destiny); sister, Joan Fleming; 16 total grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation services will be held at 10:00 am with funeral to follow at 11:00am on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, AL. with Bro. Chris Hunicutt officiating.

Pallbearers are Tyler Poole, Chris Reynolds, Josh Clardy, Brad Fleming, Lee Sullivan, and Phil Gruwell. Honorary pallbearers include Southern Care/ New Beacon Hospice of Tuscaloosa, AL and the medical office staff of Dr. William Rosenblatt, M.D. of Columbus, MS.
