Effie Rose Cooper, 78, of Millport, AL, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at her residence. There will be a funeral service on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Dixon officiating. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow at New Grove Cemetery in Kennedy, Alabama.

Effie Rose Cooper was born November 13, 1947 in Kennedy, Alabama but moved to Chicago with her parents. At a young age after their death she moved back to the only place she has ever called home. She has done many great things but the thing she did the best was being a mom, grandmother and wife. After many years of working for both hospitals in Vernon and Fayette AL she also worked for the Garment Plant as well. She then retired and devoted the rest of her life to her children as well as many others. She was the definition of a life worth celebrating. She passed away May 14, 2026 in her home in Millport AL. Although she is gone her love, light, and strength will never be forgotten. It lives through each and every heart she touched. 

She was survived by 4 children, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren as well as many others she considered her siblings.
