Elsie Stripling Mordecai, 94 of Kennedy, Alabama died on Monday, June 17, 2019, in Kennedy, Alabama.

Born Tuesday, November 18, 1924 in Pickens County to the late Mr. Charlie Stripling and Mrs. Ellie Sullivan Stripling. Mrs. Elsie played the piano for the singing Bryants. She was a member of Lamar County Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Long time member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. She loved gospel music.

Preceded in death by her husband Mr. Floyd Mordecai and son Mr. Mike Mordecai.

She was a member of Kennedy United Methodist Church.

Surviving are son, Wiley Mordecai, Kennedy Al, sisters, Clara Jean Gaston, Pascagoula MS and Sara Jo Duke, Birmingham AL, 4 grand children; 7 great grand children.

A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will be in Meadow Branch Cemetery.

Officiating will be Mr. Ed Nabors

Pallbearers will be Jason Mordecai, Aaron Mordecai, Andrew Mordecai,Jeremy Mordecai, Roy Duke, Scott Duke.
