IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Flora
Mccool
February 9, 1939 – April 24, 2023
Flora Nell McCool, 84, of Millport, Alabama went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2023 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. Visitation will be held April 29, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, AL. Interment will be at Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery in Millport, AL.
Flora was born to Manly Thomas Bryant and Vera Nell Bryant on February 9, 1939. She grew up in Millport, AL graduating from Millport High School in the class of 1957. She was a member of Millport Church of Christ. Flora worked diligently to help families through her 18 years of service with the State of Alabama Human Resources Department. She did her best to help, love and uplift her community through membership in the Millport Chamber of Commerce, the Service Club, playing Mrs. Santa Claus every Christmas for Millport and the surrounding area; bringing joy to families and children. She loved people and being around others, not one day in her 84 years of life meeting a stranger. Everyone was family to her, and she made a point to include everyone around her, so that no one ever felt left out. Her comical and passionate disposition left a beautiful and memorable impression on every person and cat she met. Flora was a blessing to her family, friends, and the community around her, leading her life with a strong will and straightforward, opinionated and hilarious mind. To be around her was to know her thoughts and feelings and the beautiful abstract work of art that was. We will miss her and remember her fondly all the days of our lives.
Preceding Flora in death are her parents, Manly Thomas and Vera Nell Bryant of Millport, AL., and three nephews. She is survived by her husband James "Mac" McCool, her daughters, Teah Leigh Sharp (Jason), Heather Dumas (Paul) and grandchildren, Alexis Wise, Lorilei Sharp, Zachary Dumas (Liz) and Donovan Dumas.
Pallbearers will be Jonah Bowers, Robbie McCool, Patrick McCool, Lynn Boman, Colby Shaw and Dale Shelley. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Walker, Jimmy Walker, Gary Martin, Michael Wheeler, Charlie Cleghorn, Jon Luke Bowers, Michael King and Will Latham.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the South Lamar Rescue Squad, P.O. 219, Kennedy, AL.35574, local church or local food bank in her honor.
