Mrs. Francis McDill, age 79, of Ethelsville, passed away peacefully in her home on July 4 th , 2019. Services will be 2pm Sunday, July 7 th , 2019 at Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Shaw and Rev. Max Bobbitt officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery in Millport with Dowdle Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Saturday, July 6 th , 2019 from 6pm to 8pm at Dowdle Funeral Home.
Mrs. McDill was born on the family farm in the Pine Grove Community of Pickens County on March 13 th , 1940 to parents Earl and Bertha Harcrow. She graduated Liberty High School in 1959 and married her high school sweetheart, Reed McDill, on July 22 nd , 1960. They celebrated 46 beautiful years of marriage before his death in 2006. She served as secretary for the Pickens County Board of Education for over 30 years before her retirement in 1996. She was a lifelong lover of music and could most often be found sitting at her piano at home or playing for the services at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, where she was an active member. She loved to cook for family and friends and you never left Mrs. Frances's house hungry. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and mawmaw.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, older brothers and sisters, and her constant 4-legged companion, Bear.
She is survived by 2 sons, Tim McDill and Jerry McDill, both of Ethelsville; one granddaughter, Kate McDill Otte (Kyle) of Tuscaloosa AL., and one brother, Bobby Harcrow (Theretha) of Columbus MS.
Pall Bearers will be Sean Harper, Mike Gore, Jared Grey, Jackson McCool, Justin Abrams, Jordy Abrams, Nathan West, and David Lowery.
Honorary Pall Bearers are the members of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Liberty High School class of 1959, DeeDee Shaw, Yvonne Fortner, Tina Parker, Kelly Hall, the nurses of Asera Care Hospice, Sonny and Velma Gore, and Kate Skelton.
