Mrs. Verdie Frances Pollard, age 72, of Millport, died Saturday, September 13, 2014 at her residence. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 am at Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gene Dawkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Millport City Cemetery.

Mrs. Pollard was born September 29, 1941 in San Diego, California to the late Elmer and Thelma Hampton McFadden. She was a 1959 graduate of Peabody High School in Trenton, Tennessee. Mrs. Pollard was employed by the Lamar County Board of Registrars in Vernon, Alabama and was a member of Propst Memorial Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling around to various yard sales and cheering on the Auburn Tigers.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Quinton "Jim Jack" Pollard.

She is survived by her children: Katrina (Terry) Atkins and Kenny (Tina) Pollard both of Millport and Keith Pollard of Fayette; and one sister, Barbara Maitland of Trenton, Tennessee.

Pallbearers are: Gary Beard, Dean Robertson, Billy Dawkins, Dakota Dawkins, Dalton Pollard and Terry Atkins.
