ETHELSVILLE, Ala. — Gary Dewayne Jones, 45, died June 17, 2014, at his residence. Services are noon Friday at Holly Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. David Cobb officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to service time at the church. Dowdle Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Mr. Jones was born in Pickens County, Alabama, on Sept. 18, 1968, to the late Walter and Vernon Spraggins Jones. He was formerly employed with Weyerhaeuser. He was a 1987 graduate of Pickens County High School, and member of Holly Grove Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Leon Jones. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Cobb of Millport, Alabama; two daughters, Ashley and Amanda Jones, both of millport; four sisters, Luretta Phillips, Brenda Stephens, Pamela Brown and Odetta Smith; four brothers, Walter Ray Jones, Hubert Jones, Donald Jones and Shun Jones; and one grandchild.
