Obituary

It is with great sadness, we announce the death of our beloved husband, daddy and grandaddy, Glen Hayse Holsonback, on June 10, 2025. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, AL. with Bro. Glen Boman officiating and Bro. Ed Nabors assisting. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will follow at Kennedy City Cemetery in Kennedy, AL.

Glen was born on August 7, 1936 and was a lifelong resident of Kennedy, Alabama.  He graduated from Kennedy High School in 1955. He was employed for over 40 years with Bosch/United Technologies in Columbus, MS. and retired in 1996. He was a member of Kennedy Baptist Church.  He served his community as former Mayor of Kennedy, city council member, and the Kennedy Housing Authority board. He spent his remaining life doing what he loved by gardening, hunting, fishing, "fixing things" and coaching Alabama football from the comfort of his recliner. In his later years, he enjoyed sitting on his porch and watching nature. His greatest love was spending time with his family.
Glen married his childhood friend, Zettie Smith Holsonback on August 1, 1958. They were just shy of celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary together.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, William "Jack" and Susie Tyner Holsonback, brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Ann Holsonback, sister-in-law's Betty Smith Cutts and Opal Smith Shelton.

Survivors include his wife, Zettie Smith Holsonback, son Michael Glen Holsonback (Karen) , daughter Dusty Holsonback Ahlgren (Larry). Grandchildren include Tiffany Holsonback, Kacy Kennedy (Sam), Karoline Holsonback, Michael Glen Holsonback, Jr.(Harley), Chloe Holsonback, and Jordan Brooke Ahlgren (Michael Artz) and Trey Ahlgren (Christina) . Great-Grandchildren include Tre Haley, Zoey, Armani, Kaysen Holsonback, Piper Kennedy, Lynkon Ahlgren, brother-in-law Richard C. Smith and a host of nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be Brian Holsonback, Michael G. Holsonback, Jr; Trey Haley, Larry Ahlgren, Sam Kennedy, and Richard C. Smith.

Special thanks to Dr. Honea, Dr. Otero, Dr. Hill, Amedisys Hospice Staff and his wonderful nurse, Brittany Gainey who could always make him smile.
