Obituary

Grace Livingston Baswell, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to many, died peacefully in her home in Fernbank, Alabama on July 18, 2024.  She was surrounded by her loved ones.  Funeral services will be Sunday, July 21, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, Alabama with Bro. Gary Seay officiating. Visitation will be at 1:00 here in the chapel. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Millport, AL. under the direction of Dowdle Funeral Home.

Grace was born to Manly Armon and Hattie Mae Owens Livingston on August 6, 1936, in Kennedy, Alabama.

Her first love was Jesus Christ.  She lived for Him, and her life was a wonderful testimony to that fact. She was a member of Steens First Baptist Church. Due to her health issues, she had been unable to attend for quite some time. However, she loved reading and studying God's Word.  She enjoyed watching and listening to Dr. David Jeremiah sermons and she had also read many of his books.

Her second love was her husband, James (68 years, 7 months, and 18 days), both her two-legged family and her four-legged "Yogi".  Nothing pleased her more than having all her family together in their home, where they always had food galore. She would feed us until we nearly "popped", then she would always ask several times, "Are you sure you won't have just one more helping or take you some home for later"?

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Pauline Moore and Corine Barrett, brothers, Worth and Cecil Livingston, half-brother, Aaron Weems and infant brother Freddie Livingston.

She is survived by her husband, James Baswell, daughter Debra Rhinewalt (Edward) and son, Glen Baswell (Andlyn), 7 grandchildren, Luke Rhinewalt (Kim), Matt Rhinewalt (Hannah), J.J. Baswell (Amanda), Jamie Turner (Bryant), Cole Robinson (Morgan), Todd Robinson (Madison), Sam Robinson and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ben Stough, Ronnie Barrett, Danny Livingston, Roger Cunningham, Mike Trull and Lewis Sanders. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Barrett, Mark Ward, Joe Fondren, Lee Younger, Tom Younger and Roy Blanton.

Grace lived out her life in a way that was pleasing to God. She was a witness by word and deed. To know her was to love her.  She lived by "To live is Christ and to die is gain". Philippians 1:21.
