Hansel Jones, 81, of Kennedy, AL, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

Hansel was born on March 29, 1945, and was raised in Kennedy, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leevoid and Eulene Jones, and brothers, Randall and Harold Jones. Hansel is survived by his children, Rodney Jones (Emily) and Shannon Sanford (Byron); 6 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Early in life, Hansel devoted more than 15 years to constructing steel buildings before beginning a career in the trucking industry. In 1980, he founded Hansel Jones Trucking, a business he proudly owned and operated for 25 years until his retirement.

Hansel was an avid hunter and fisherman who cherished every opportunity to be at the river. Whether fishing or simply enjoying the water, it was his favorite place to spend time. He also loved to spend time with family and friends. Many will remember him enjoying a cup of coffee at the Kennedy store, where he could often be found visiting and laughing with friends. Hansel was a regular attendee at Chapel Hill Baptist Church. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 8th, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Carl Sullivan officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow at Kennedy City Cemetery in Kennedy, AL.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Holliman, Benji Jones, Lloyd Jones, Tristan Jones, Kent Moore, and Justin Sanford.
