Mr. Harrel Wayne Graham age 76, died Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Fayette Medical Center. Services for Mr. Graham will be Thursday October 29, 2015 at 2 pm at Shiloh United Methodist Church in the Hightogy Community of Lamar County, AL. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and guest from 6-8 pm on Wednesday October 28, 2015 at Dowdle Funeral Home.
Mr. Graham is preceded in death by parents Belton Willie and Gladys Stapp Graham, brothers Gene Gale, Marion, and Charles Henry Graham.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years Sylvia Shaw Graham of Millport, son Christopher Wayne Graham, of Gainesville, FL, daughter Jennifer (Glenn) Hardin, of Millport, step daughter Cheryl Ann Cagle of Haleyville, AL, brothers Edward H. (Gloria) Graham, of Birmingham and Billy Joe (Helen) Graham, of Gainesville, FL, sister Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Graham, of Millport, granddaughters Miranda Blake (Justin) Sanford, and Morgan Elizabeth Hardin both of Millport. Great Granddaughter, Brenley Sanford.
Harrel Wayne was a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church, he was also a Veteran the United States Army and the Alabama National Guard Co. B-877 where he retired with a rank of 1st Sargent with 35+ years of service. He work for United Technologies and retired from the Lamar County School of Technology where he was the Welding Instructor. In retirement he found great pleasure in driving the bus for the Lamar County Nutrition Center in Millport and playing Rook with the other members. Harrel loved his church and family and watching his granddaughters, Blake and Morgan's school and sports activities through the years and spending time with his wife going to singings. He was very active in his community always ready to help anyone who needed help he loved people and his sense of humor kept things always lively wherever he was. He was loved by many and will be missed but will be heavens gain.
