Herbert Ashcraft, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed from his earthly life into the loving arms of his lord & Savior Jesus Christ on July 20, 2016.
Herbert was born to Belton and Pearl Ashcraft on April 28, 1928 in Kennedy, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bebe Ashcraft, brother Jeff Ashcraft, sister-in-law, Dorothy, Sister, Maxine, brother-in-law, Theo Coleman, sister Margaret, and brother-in-law Bob Davis.
He is survived and will be forever loved by his step-son, George Smith, his half Lloyd Cobb and a host of other relatives and friends.
Herbert graduated from Kennedy High School and The University of Alabama. He volunteered to serve his country in the military during the Korean War. After beginning a succedful business career, he returned to Kennedy to assist his father during his fathers illness. Herbert loved his hometown, served as its Mayor and continued to support the community throughout his life. He began a career with State Farm while living in Kennedy, later becoming the Vice-President of State Farm.
Herbert was a man of strong faith, Loving his Lord faithfully teaching Sunday School class for many decades. He was a very loving and caring person and will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
A Celebration of Herbert's Life will be held Saturday, July 23 at 11:00am at Kennedy Baptist Church, Kennedy, Alabama with visitation to follow at the church. The deacons of Kennedy Baptist Church will serve as his pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of his Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Kennedy Baptist Church, Kennedy Historical Society, Kennedy, Alabama or Calvary Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
