Obituary

John Thomas Johnson, Jr., of Millport, AL passed away Thursday November 4, 2021 at Generations of Vernon.  Funeral services will take place on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Harmony Freewill Baptist Church in Hightogy, AL. with Bro. Danny Thompson and Bro. Rodney Brazil officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Shiloh (Pin Hook) Cemetery under the direction of Dowdle Funeral Home.

J.T. was born at the family home near Millport in 1931 to John Thomas and Hattie Lee Johnson. He married Olivia Bobbitt in 1949 and they were married 63 years before her death in 2013. J.T. worked for Seminole Manufacturing in Columbus, MS. and Millport, AL. until a stroke left him disabled in 1973.  Despite dealing with severe disabilities, he continued to live an active life and enjoyed spending time with his family and attending church each week.
J.T. was a member of Mt. Harmony Free Will Baptist Church, in Hightogy near Vernon, AL.  and a Mason of more than 60 years.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters: LaFaye Stanley, and Flaudie Lee Glasgow, and one brother, Claudus  Johnson.
He is survived by his three daughters: Gail Mize, Kaye Callahan (Joseph) and Sharron Owens (Ricky) all of MIllport
Grandchildren: Funishia Young (George), Lance Hildreth (Stephenie), Frances Lewis (Andrew), Kayla Christian (Jesse) and Mason Payne
and 16 Great Grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be George Young, Lance Hildreth, Andrew Lewis, Wayne Hildreth, Sam Young and Stephen Guyton.
