James M. Griffin, 72, of Kennedy, AL, passed away on September 25, 2021, at Winfield Nursing Home in Winfield, AL. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, AL. with Bro. Glenn Kennedy and Bro. Wes Jones officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will follow at Meadow Branch Cemetery under the direction of Dowdle Funeral Home.

James was born March 28, 1949 in Lamar Co. Alabama to Andrew Jackson Griffin and Lovie Lou (Leonard) Griffin. He was a life-long resident of Lamar County and a retiree from Weyerhaeuser Company in Millport, AL. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. James loved fishing, working in his garden, Alabama football, bluegrass music and always enjoyed a good joke. He fought a battle with dementia but left this world for a better one where there is no more confusion or frustration.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Louvelle Herron, Jessie Sullivan, Ruby Aldridge Uptain, brothers Noah Griffin, Leonard Griffin and Johnnie Joe Griffin.

James is survived by his wife, Sarah Griffin of Kennedy, AL., his daughters Carolyn Davis (Phillip), Kennedy, AL., Jennie Robinson (Tim), Millport, AL., Lisa Guy (Alexis), Millport, AL., a brother Sammie Norris Griffin, Vernon, AL.,  his step-daughter, Angie Broadbent (Jessie), Millport, AL., step-son Jimbo Davidson (Wendy), New Hope, MS., two grandchildren Presley Rose and Levi Sawyer Guy, three step-grandchildren Harley and Dalton Davidson and Rayna Jayne Broadbent and yet-to-be-born grandchild Aria Rayne Guy and his special companion, Bandit.

Pallbearers will be Danny Shaw, Jimbo Davidson, Bob Morgan, Chris Reynolds, Jeff Long and Terry Robinson. Honorary pallbearers are retirees of Weyerhaeuser Co., Millport, AL.
