Mr. James Robert Walker, 76, of Reform, Al died Monday April 18, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Walker was born, Jan 6, 1940 in Tuscaloosa, Al to the late James Otis & Juanita Migon Walker. A graduate of Holt High School class of 1958. A sergeant in the Holt National guard serving 8 years he was honored to have been a protector & fighter for CIvial Rights in the Selma and Montgomery marches of 1965.He was a graduate of Shelton Tech as a Mechanical Engineer and continued his education in the Electrical field.He served as a Boy Scout leader in the Black Warrior Council. He retired from United Technologies/Johnson Electric in 2000, and was a member of First Christian Church of Columbus. He was preceded in death by a son Greg Bryant & grandson James Robert Walker III.
Surviving are wife: Ada Faye Walker, sons, James Robert Walker, Jr., Richard Daniel Walker, Gary Martin and Phillip Eaves, daughters, Phyllana Wheeler and Jessica Renae Walker, foster children, Tina Gilliam Bryant, John Matychowiak, Karen Wallace, Valerie Lawson, Kimberly Petty, Samantha Brown, Doug Freshour, sisters, Edna Harrison, Dee Dee Davis and Barbara Jamestone; 22 grand children; 6 great grand children.
A Memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday at Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel.
