IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janice
House
October 29, 1958 – September 16, 2021
Janice Kay House, 62, passed away peacefully at her home in Millport on September 16, 2021.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Lester Travis House, daughter, Nancy "Nan" (T. J.) Mays, son, Travis "Tra" (Karen) House, sister, Billie "B J" Speed and special niece, Paula DuBois (James) Barton. Janice is survived by nine grandchildren, Destiny, Aiden and Izaac Mays, Clint and Hunter Williams, Andrew, Natalee and Kylee House and Faith Ozment. She also leaves her extended family, Janet DuBois, Barbara House (Gary) McManus, Johnny (Lisa) House, Anne House Blaylock and her nieces and nephews.
Janice was preceded in death by her father, William Ralph Headington, mother, Nona Gilliam Lewis and brother, Larry B. DuBois.
Janice took great pride in her life's calling as a Registered Nurse. She graduated from New Hope High School, attended Mississippi University for Women, graduated from Holmes Community College and Bevill State Community College. She started her nursing career in Mississippi, but in 2000 found a way to combine her passions for nursing and traveling to become an RN who would work extended stays at hospitals and medical centers with extra staffing needs. Janice lived and worked as a "traveling nurse" in Alabama, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Texas and California. She worked the last 12 years of her career at the El Camino/Los Gatos Hospital and Good Samaritan Medical Center in San Jose, California.
There was never an antique store Janice didn't want to check out or a dog she wouldn't adopt. She adored her five fur babies, Lucy & Ricky (Ricardo), Angel, Smokey and Murphy. Janice also collected friends and co-workers all over the country who loved and admired her for her professionalism, care and dedication to her patients and who knew they could always count on her.
Graveside services will be held at the Harmony Free Will Baptist Church in Eupora, Mississippi, September 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of Dowdle Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Janice's memory.
