Mr. Jessie Lee Neal, 102, of Millport, Al died Thursday, December 29, 2016 at VA Medical Center, Tuscaloosa, Al.

Funeral Services will be held, Friday January 6, 2017,  1:00 pm at Holly Grove Baptist Church with burial in Holly Grove Cemetery. The body will lie-in-state from 12:00 noon - 1:00 pm at the church. Rev. Jerry Bridges & Rev. Kevin Dixon will officiate. Dowdle Funeral Home is in Charge of arrangements.

Mr. Neal was born April 23, 1914 in Millport, Al to the late Ervin & Ola Foster Neal, a Veteran of the US Navy he worked many years in the Dry Cleaner's  business. Mr. Neal was elected to the Millport Town Council in August of 1980 and served district 2 for 24 years, he was elevated to the position of Mayor Pro Tem during the 1990's and held that position until his retirement in November of 2004. A receiptant of the prestigious 24 year service award from the Alabama League of Municipalities. Mayor Pro Tem Neal, always made wise decisions while serving on the council always voting for he felt was best for the citizens of Millport.

Mr. Neal was a preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Neal, his daughter, Lillie Bell Hodge, sisters, Karah Shepherd, Annie Bell Neal, Pearline Sturdivant, Alberta Redmon, brothers, F.D. Neal, John Luster Neal, Winsron Neal & Wiliam Neal. He was a longtime member of Holly Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include sister Earline (Moore) Neal, 3 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren.
