Jimmy Shelton, 84, of Kennedy, AL, passed away on January 11, 2024, at Walker County Medical Facility in Jasper, AL. Funeral services will be Sunday, January 14, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, AL, with Bro. Ray Aldridge and Bro. Terry McAdams officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the chapel. There will be a private family burial at Kennedy City Cemetery at a later time.

Jimmy Lee was born on April 4, 1939, in Pickens County to Viola and B.L. Shelton. Jimmy was a hard worker all his life. He was a mechanic at Fayette Cotton Mill until it closed. After that, he worked on vehicles, boats, ATVs, and lawn mowers for the public. But his greatest passion was his garden. He loved growing tomatoes! He enjoyed all his customers coming far and wide to buy them. He loved spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing. He might have told quite a "few" stories over the years. He loved his family and he worked hard to provide for them.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ludy Black Shelton, his sons, Jerry Shelton, James Shelton, and Tim Foster, and his brother, Lynn Shelton.

Jimmy is survived by his daughters, Jenita Watkins of Millport, AL, and Kim McAdams (Terry) of Vernon, AL, son, Albert Shelton (Christy) of Fayette, AL, daughter-in-law, Desirae Foster of Gordo, AL, brother, Ray Shelton (Pat) of Kennedy, AL, sister, Sara Bumpus (Raymond) of Kennedy, AL, sister-in-law, Margaret Shelton of Florence, AL. He had 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Betty Patchen.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Watkins, Tyler McAdams, Spencer McAdams, Adam Shelton, Jonas Shelton, Justin Shelton, Cole Foster, Steven Foster, and Daniel Porter.
