Larry is predeceased by his father, Howard Cunningham; mother, Kathleen Cunningham; and sisters, Imogene Cunningham and Flora Mae Cunningham.
Larry is lovingly remembered by his children, Matthew Cunningham (Sunnett) of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Amy Cunningham Phillips (Wes) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; brother, Eddie Cunningham (Debbie) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; sister, Betty Ruth Cunningham of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; grandchildren, Gabrielle and Kathleen Cunningham; nephew, Brandy Cunningham of Moundville, Ala.; niece, Genie Cunningham of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and great-nephew, Tyler Cunningham of Moundville, Ala.
Larry was born in Vernon, Ala. on November 12, 1949 and raised in Millport, Ala. He moved to Tuscaloosa, Ala. in 1974 and took a job at Alabama Department of Transportation where he became the Equipment Repair Manager.
Larry had a carefree spirit and a heart of gold. He was a well-known man and never went anywhere in town without seeing someone he knew. He loved to cook crawfish and crab legs, go to the beach and river, go fishing, and just riding around listening to music. His family was his main priority and he spent as much time as he could with his children, grandchildren, family, his grand "puppies" and friends. No matter what he was doing, as long as he was with the ones he loved, he was happy. His favorite time of the year was football season. He was an avid Alabama fan, and enjoyed tailgating with family and friends while cheering on the Tide.
He spent his last years living life to the fullest and doing the things he enjoyed most. He made many memories with the people he loved. And his presence will always be felt. His memories will live on forever. And no matter what, he will always be our Capitano One.
Pallbearers will be Brandy Cunningham, Tyler Cunningham, Wes Phillips, Ricky Hibbard, Michael Wyers, Jeffery Gordon.
