Obituary

Leavern Pate, 79, of Ethelsville, AL, passed away January 6, 2022 at his home.  Mr. Pate was born September 2, 1942 in Reform, Alabama to Albert and Ella Mae (Kyles) Pate. He was known to many as Hickory Nut, Pee Wee, Pop/Papa and Dad and was married to his favorite person, Lynda Bradshaw Pate for 57 years.

Leavern was an Army veteran and his service to his country and community didn't end with his honorable discharge. He began his career in the trucking industry with Shumpert Trucklines and retired from Roadway Express after 39 1/2 years of service. His favorite pastimes was tinkering in his shop and miniature horses.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Larry Pate, a daughter Candace McNeil, sisters Linda L. Higgeson and Alice Bradshaw and two grandchildren, Rachael McNeil and Nathan McNeil. Also left behind was his faithful "fur-kid" Queenie, his miniature fox terrier.

The family has chosen cremation and will have a memorial service at a later date in the spring.
