Lou Ellen Patchen, 95, a life-long resident of Kennedy, AL, passed away on August 11, 2020 at her home. Funeral services will be August 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, AL. with Bro. Raymond Stewart and Bro. John McPeek officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Interment will be at Kennedy City Cemetery under the direction of Dowdle Funeral Home.
Mrs. Patchen was born on January 17, 1925 in Brookside, AL to Dewey Eugene and Hattie (Bradford) Parker. She moved to Kennedy in 1943 to make a life with her husband Mike Patchen. She was the oldest member of Kennedy Church of God for 77 years. She was a loving wife and mother of 4 boys, Billy, Jerry, Johnny and Bobby. She never met a stranger and everyone was welcome around her table. She was known county wide as everyone's "Mawmaw" Patchen.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Mike, sons Billy, Jerry and Johnny Patchen, 3 sisters, Gladys Ashcraft, Hazel Studdard and Dixie Carter. 2 brothers, Walter Parker and Bobby Parker. She is also preceded in death by grandson, Terry Patchen.
She is survived by a son, Bob Parker (Jean), Grandchildren Jackie Patchen (Tana), Felicia Patchen, Jennifer Lucas (David), Ashley Parker and Chris Parker and 9 great-grandchildren.
Pall bearers will be Eddie Patchen, Dylan Patchen, David Long, David Lucas, Jackie Patchen and Ricky Moore.
Honorary Pallbearer is Steve Wilson.
