Lounell Shaw Aldridge, 88, of Kennedy, Alabama, passed away on July 17, 2024 at Generations of Vernon. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, AL. with Bro. Ray Aldridge officiating assisted by Brett Aldridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Pickens County. There will be no graveside service.

Lounell was born on January 17, 1936 to the late Wilford and Essie Byars Shaw. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed taking dishes to people in her community and her church family. She loved to fish and she enjoyed life and spending time with people. She had a great smile and shared it with everyone she met. She will truly be missed by neighbors, family and friends.

Lounell is survived by one sister, Irene Oglesby of Reform, AL., a special nephew, whom she raised as her son, Brent Aldridge (Becky) of Millport, AL., a very special light in her life, Brett Aldridge of Millport, Al., a niece, Lisa Lockhart (David) of Columbus, MS., two nephews, Jerry Aldridge (Gwenda) of Millport, AL. and Jeff Oglesby (Donna) of Reform, AL., great nieces and nephews, Carrie Powell (Michael), Michaela Powell, Joey Oglesby (Tia) and Leslie Oglesby (Anna Kate), Etta Faith Oglesby and Lydia Oglesby, along with a host of in-laws, family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Aldridge, her parents and brothers Davis and Chester Shaw and a sister, Virginia Aldridge.

Pallbearers will be Joey Oglesby, Jeff Oglesby, Leslie Oglesby, Mike Hildreth, Toby Lawrence, Eric McAdams and David Lockhart.
