Lucille joined this world on January 18, 1933 in Burden, Kansas. The second of four children, Lucille and her siblings grew up and lived in several places around Kansas. While living and working at a soda shop in Topeka, she met a group of thirsty airmen who had hitchhiked their way to her shop. Herb, one of the young men in that group, took a liking to Lucille and sparked a courtship spanning the continent and lasting nearly 53 years. After their marriage, the pair moved to Hubert's hometown of Milport and planted their roots…DEEP. Their shop, H & L Auto Parts, was a staple of the community for many years and even with a growing business the two found time to raise three children, volunteer throughout the community, and garden extensively.
Family was everything to Lucille. Even though life took her far from her home in Kansas, she would always keep in close contact with her siblings and visit them at every opportunity. During her children's school years, she supported them, their endeavors, and the community at the Millport Consolidated School either by volunteering in the concession stands at games, using her uncanny country cooking skills in bake sales, or driving kids…hers or not…where they needed to go. This doting nature continued into her years as a grandmother to three grandchildren. She followed, with enthusiasm, the lives of her grandchildren and was an active part in their growth into young adults.
Lucille's giving and adventurous spirit was also felt by the community in many ways. She loved the Lord and lived her faith. As was often said, Lucille was the hands and feet of Jesus. She was a very active member of Springhill Baptist Church teaching primary class and vacation bible school for many years, oftentimes making several trips to pick up neighborhood kids so they could take part. Lucille was also a charter member of the South Lamar Rescue Squad.  During her 47-year tenure, she could be found staffing sporting events and coordinating roadblocks and fish fry fundraisers so she and the team could continue the ambulance runs that helped countless people in the community. Her tireless efforts were rewarded by top service awards, but such awards were embarrassing to a woman who's only drive was to give back to the community she loved.
When it finally came time to retire, Lucille's life was far from over. Again, her adventurous spirit led the way, this time through all 49 contiguous states in the United States. For years, and with her best friend riding shotgun and egging on the mischief, Lucille set out and saw the country. She reminisced about the trips across America until her dying day.
As it does to most adventurers, time took its toll and Lucille was finally forced to slow down as her ability to walk diminished. She moved to the Long Term Care community in Fayette, but even there she couldn't be stopped. She participated in activities, made friends, and found joy in many ways (which may or may not have include unaccompanied and unapproved road trips in her wheelchair to get a milkshake…or two…just because she felt like it). She had great love for those caring for her and had various long-running jokes with different staff members and suitemates that would cause laughter to roll through the halls.  In a situation causing depression in many, Lucille thrived.  Her stubborn joy for life and others could never be taken from her and persisted until the lord called her home.
Lucille is preceded in death by her husband Hubert, a son Donald Moucha, a sister Helen Atchison and a brother John Schnoor. She is survived by two daughters, Sibyl Reeves (Carl) and Benita Swan (Bret), a sister, Marguerite Atchison and three grandchildren, Will Reeves, Lucy Swan, and Annie Swan.
Pallbearers will be Will Reeves, Donnie Bowles, Mike Brackin and Roger Shaw. Honorary Pallbearers are South Lamar Rescue Squad and Fayette Medical Center Long Term Care Community Station 2.
