Obituary

Lucinda Ann Poole Mitchell, affectionately known as "Cindy", was born on September 27, 1956, to the late Robert Lee Poole and Selene Cooper Poole in Pickens County, Alabama.  On Tuesday, March 30, 2023, she answered the call into eternal rest.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mickey and brother, Benjamin Poole.

From the beginning, Cindy was "special."  She was the 3rd child of 10 children, the eldest girl and therefore, took on the role of helping to raise her younger siblings.   She loved to sew, dance and sing.  While attending Kennedy High School, she was involved in several talent shows (she especially loved impersonating Diana Ross & the Supremes).  Additionally, Cindy took pleasure in playing volleyball.  After graduating high school, Cindy moved to Atlanta, Georgia and attended Atlanta Technical College.  However, she later returned to Alabama to be with the love of her life.  On August 4, 1979, Cindy was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Milton "Mickey" Mitchell for 37 years until his transition in 2016. To this union, one daughter, Mikina Lenyel, was born.

Cindy was employed with Chromalox in Vernon, Alabama for several years and later served as a substitute teacher at South Lamar High School in Millport, Alabama where she was everyone's "favorite" sub.  She was known for her strong, vibrant personality and caring nature.  Cindy had a passion for helping others and she displayed this on a daily basis.  Her love for helping people was unparalleled.  She was always willing to lend a listening ear or offer words of wisdom, advise or encouragement.  In her later years, Cindy enjoyed traveling the world with her daughter.

Cindy leaves to cherish her precious memories: a faithful and devoted daughter, Mikina, of Lawrenceville, Georgia; (5 brothers) James (Pat) Poole of Fayette, Alabama, Walter Poole of Tacoma, Washington, Donnie (Elese) Poole and Greg Poole of Kennedy, Alabama and Jayson (Janearle) Poole of Mobile, Alabama; (3 sisters) Janice Hayden and Rebecca (Wardell) Carter of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Maria Wilson of Columbus, Mississippi; (4 grandchildren) Keyara Jones, Kelise McGraw, KeAndre McGraw and Garry Smith; (6 aunts) Shirley McClain of Melrose Park, IL; Reveland Weir, Glinda Wilson and Mamie (Melvin) Shackelford of Covin, Alabama, Betty Noland of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Alma Cooper of Vernon, Alabama; (two uncles) James Cooper and Woodrow (Mavis) Cooper of Witchita, Kansas, special friends Rosetta Craig, Linda Vinson, Marie Henry, Felicia Dixon Young, Gwen Stovall, Judy Elmore and Rita McClean; her sweet Pomeranian furkid, Scout Monroe, and a host of relatives and friends.

"He said to her, 'Daughter, your faith has healed you.  Go in peace and be freed from your suffering' " Mark 5:34
