IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lucy
Elliott
August 22, 1942 – February 10, 2025
Louisene "Lucy" Elliott, 82, of Reform, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 10, 2025. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Arbor Springs Baptist Church in Reform, Alabama, with Bro. Larry Shelton officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Dowdle Funeral Home.
Lucy was the daughter of the late Lewis Preston McGahey and Laudice Bonner McGahey. She was raised in Pickens County where she attended Liberty High School and later married her husband, Jerry "Ronald" Elliott, Sr. The two shared a happy life together in Reform where they raised their son, Jerry. Lucy was a proud mother and grandmother.
Lucy was kind and loved people. If she heard someone's family was growing, even if she did not know them personally, she would knit them a baby blanket. If she saw a stranger walking on the side of the road, she would pick them up. Like her late husband, Lucy also loved animals. Bentley and Baxter, her dogs, were a source of great joy for Lucy. An avid gardener, Lucy took pride in her flowerbeds. She particularly enjoyed tending to her daylilies. In the summertime, hundreds of daylilies speckled Lucy's gardens, varying in color, shape, and size. Despite the wide variety, she knew the name of each daylily in her garden. If Lucy was not in her garden, she was likely in her kitchen. Lucy was a wonderful cook and delighted in sharing her love of cooking with others. Her chicken n' dumplings and banana pudding were often requested by family and friends.
Most importantly, Lucy loved the Lord. She was an active member of Arbor Springs Baptist Church, a place that provided community and friendship for many years. She was grateful for this community and those who often called or dropped in to see how she was doing, especially when she could no longer attend services.
Lucy is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Elliott, Sr.; sister, Nelda Richards (J.W.); and brother, Dale McGahey (Jeanette).
She is survived by her son, Jerry Elliott, Jr. (Katherine); sister, Janice Parham; brother, Gerald McGahey (Mary Ann); and granddaughter, Jordan Walker (Blake).
