Marie Lareine Blalock, 85, of Kennedy, Alabama passed away at home on Thursday, April 30, 2020.  There will be a private visitation for Marie on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Dowdle Funeral Home, Millport, Alabama, and a graveside service held on Thursday, May 7, 2020, at 11:00 AM, at Millport Cemetery, Millport, Alabama, Rev. Ed Nabors officiating.

Marie was born December 16, 1934 to the late Walter Lurid Owens and Connie Elizabeth Dollar Owens in Lamar county, Alabama. Marie married her husband Jimmy, in her twenties, and resided many years in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where they raised their two sons and during retirement years move back to Alabama to be closer to family. Marie worked for many years as a retail manager for Eileen's Boutique in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.  She was an active volunteer in her son's scouting and YMCA swimming club's. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed her gardening and any kind of plants.  She loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Everyone that knew Marie loved her and she was well-grounded in her Christian faith.

Marie is survived by her husband Jimmy N. Blalock of Kennedy, Alabama; two sons Philip (Christie) Blalock of Plano, Texas and Keith (Laurie) Blalock of Hawaii; loving grandsons Hunter Blalock, Brian Blalock and Collin Blalock; sisters-in-law Cora Owens, Hazel Trafford, and Patricia (Jim) Burt; brother-in-law Gene Blalock; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Marie was preceded in death by parents Walter and Connie Owens; brothers Herbert, Lewis, Richard, and B.J. Owens; and beloved grandson Zane Blalock.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
