Mary Francis Cunningham was born on October 4th, 1944 in Millport, AL. to the late Rev. Frank James and Lillie Bell Cox. She departed this life on Thursday morning, March 17, 2022 at her residence in Millport, Alabama. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Holly Grove M.B. Church in Millport, Alabama with Rev. Kevin Dixon, Sr. officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Holly Grove Cemetery under the direction of Dowdle Funeral Home.

At a young age she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and united with Holly Grove M.B. Church where she served on the Kitchen Committee, Missionary Board and on every second Sunday, she read the scripture during devotion. She attended public school of Lamar Co., and she was employed at Weyerhaeuser Company until retirement.

She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Rev. O.L. Morgan, Donald Cox, Charles Cox and Tommie Watson, two sisters, Martha Johnson and Anne McCarthy and one grandson, Jeffery Hill and a very special nephew Terry Cox.

She leaves to cherish her memories five daughters, Sharon Cunningham, Shelia Hood, Dana Cunningham, Sherica Gordon and Danielle Ranch and three sons, John Cunningham, Jr. , Michael Cunningham (Nina), Derrick Cunningham (Lynn), all of Millport, AL. A host of 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Joe Cox (Stephanie) and Douglas Cox. A very special sister-in-law, Sis. Dotsie Morgan, Hosts of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
