Mary Alice Shaw Hudson, 80, of Ethelsville, AL., passed away on November 1, 2023 at her residence. Funeral services will be Friday, November 3, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, AL. with Bro. Mark Junkin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Millport, AL.

Mary Alice was born on March 31, 1943 to Rufus and Vera (Sansing) Hall in Pickens County, Alabama. She was a graduate of the University of Alabama. Over her lifetime she was employed at Ruth's Department Store in Columbus, MS. as well as Lamar County DHR. She opened her home to foster children. Mary Alice also owned and operated Millport Diner for many years and because of her love of cooking, fed many people in the surrounding area. She was a great shopper, a great seamstress and loved a good piece of watermelon. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Jane Shaw Landry and a great-grandson, Kovin Shaw. She is survived by her husband, David Lewis Hudson, daughters Tina Duke (Matt), Vernon, AL. and Sylvia Rhudy (Frank), Sulligent, AL., sons Roger Shaw (Dee Dee), Millport, AL. and Mitchell Hudson (Brittney), Ethelsville, AL., a sister, Geneva Bell, grandchildren, Kim Shaw, Kandi McAdams, Katelyn Hudson, Jasper Hudson, Darrin Duke, Veronica Duke, M.J. Duke, Julia Duke Hudson, Brandy Nichole Edwards, Haley Rhudy Gilmore, Hunter Rhudy, Kendra Bolton and Michelle Vice, great-grandchildren, Kade Keating, Lizzy Duke, Gracelyn Duke, Jack Edwards, Rufus Edwards, Jack Gilmore, Lucille Grace Gilmore, Chloe Beth Otts, Jaycie Rhudy, Brystol Kate Bolton and Walker Kane Bolton. Special friend and caregiver Carolyn White.
