Obituary

Benny Max Blanton, 82, of Vernon, formerly of Millport died Saturday March 25, 2017 at Generations of Vernon.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday March 28, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Ronnie Elmore, Randy Raper & Buddy Irving officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer United Methodist church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 Tuesday.

Max was born August 21, 1934 in Lamar County, AL to the late Harvey & Alice Murphy Blanton. He was a Graduate of Millport High School he married the love of his life, Mary Ann Baswell and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Mr. Blanton started a career in law enforcement that would span more than 30 years having worked for Lamar County sheriffs office, Millport Police Department where he served as Chief of Police and Lowndes County Sheriffs Department where he served as a criminal investigator. A member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Max was well respected, much loved and remembered by all. He was preceded in death by his sister, Leola Mordecai and nephew Benny Paul Mordecai.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Blanton, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be, Roger Cunningham, Dale McNees, Mike Trull, Edward Rhinewalt, Glenn Baswell, Byron Richards.
Honorary Pallbearera will be Staff of Generations of Vernon, Jacqulyn Charruth and staff of Aseria Hospice, Tim Hudson, Grady Jaynes, Ben Kilgore, Joe Young, Buddy Graham, Dr. Dick Owens, Retired officers of Lowndes County Sheriffs Office.
