Michael Lee Gilliam, 59, of Kennedy, Alabama, passed away on July 27, 2026. He was born on December 20, 1966.

Michael was the kind of man who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. Whether he was fishing, hunting, or spending time with family and friends, he was happiest outdoors or surrounded by the people he loved. He had a playful personality and was well known for aggravating those closest to him, a trait that brought laughter and created countless memories that will be cherished forever.

He is survived by his significant other, Kay Shackleford Gilliam; his children, Christopher Michael Gilliam(Lori), Austin Lee Gilliam(Bailey), Zachary Ross Gilliam(Anna), and Hunter Dale Bishop(Leah); his grandchildren, Avery Hunter Bishop, Payton Layne Gilliam, and Gracie Faye Gilliam; his step-grandchildren, Jesslynn, Jason and Raelynne Perkins; his parents, Donald Curtis Gilliam and Edna Faye Gilliam; and his sisters, Sheila Gilpin(James) and Michelle Gilliam. Host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Michael Gilliam Jr.

Michael will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love for the outdoors, and the joy he found in spending time with those he loved. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the laughter, stories, and moments they shared with him.

A memorial service to celebrate Michael’s life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to attend as they honor and remember his life.
