Milford Labrone " Mac" McAdams, 85 of Columbus, Mississippi died on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS.
Funeral Services for Mr. McAdams will be held Saturday November 7, 2015 at Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus, MS. The body will lie in state from 10 till 11am prior to service. Interment will follow the service in Memorial Gardens of Columbus. The family will receive friends on Friday November 6, 2015 from 6 till 8 pm in the Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel.Mr. McAdams was born Sunday, September 7, 1930 in Millport, AL, to the late William Lando and Annie Davidson McAdams. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Yvonne Atkins McAdams, sister Elaine Cork and brother in law Robert Earl Cork.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sue Selvey McAdams of Columbus, sons, Steve McAdams (Eva Sue) of Vernon, AL, Steven Mullins of Tallahassee, FL and Andy Mullins (Deborah) of Houston, TX, brothers, Leon McAdams (Myra) of Columbus, MS and Donald McAdams(Barbara) of Millport, AL; 6 grandchildren Ryan McAdams of New Rochelle, NY, Ali LeFevre (Jordan) of Flowery Branch, GA, Michelle Gibson (Todd) of Ethelsville, AL, Danielle Mullins of Tallahassee, FL, Joshua Mullins (Ashleigh) of Oceanside, CA, and Kaitlyn Mullins of Columbus, OH; 4 great grandchildren Fisher Cole Tomlin, Cooper Gibson, Callen Gibson, and Brock Mullins.
Mr. McAdams was a member of, and class president, of the graduating class of 1948 of Millport High School. After high school, and his marriage he moved to Columbus and went to work cutting meat for A&P Grocery until he was drafted in 1951. He served in the United States Army in Germany from 1951-1953. When he returned from the service he returned to work for A&P. He went to work for Mitchell Engineering Company in 1956, later CECO Corporation, and remained there for 39 and a half years retiring in September of 1995.
His faith, love for family, and singing of gospel music were his life. He sang and played in several quartets over the years including the McAdams Quartet, the Columbus Melody Boys, and the Colombians. He was a member of the Lamar County Gospel Music Hall of Fame and a member of Fairview Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and his influence and legacy will remain for years to come. "Mac" will be greatly missed!
