Nellie Sue Foster, 79, of Kennedy, AL, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at her residence.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, AL, with Bro. Glenn Boman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will follow at Meadow Branch Cemetery in Kennedy.

Nellie Sue was born December 4, 1942, and was raised in the Mt. Vernon Community. She graduated from Fayette County High School. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She worked hard her whole life and made many friends while working at Wal-Mart in Fayette. She enjoyed working in the garden center because she loved flowers and loved talking to people.  She was a wonderful cook and has prepared many Sunday dinners for her children and grandchildren. She especially loved spending time with her great-grandchildren, who have been such a blessing to her.  She was a faithful member of Kennedy Baptist Church and especially loved the ladies of the Joy Sunday School Class.

Nellie Sue is survived by her children, Scott (Crystal) Foster, Shane (Lisa) Foster and Sonia (Robbie) Lawson, all of Kennedy; a sister, Barbara (Bobby) Stiles of Winfield; a brother, Freddie Maddox of Millport; five grandchildren, Erin (Chase) Landrum, Zach (Grace) Foster, Sara Kate Foster, Amanda (Brian) Nance and Jason Lawson; two great-grandchildren, Easton Foster and Tanner Kate Nance; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Eugene Foster; her parents, Leamon and Exie Maddox; and three brothers, Louie Maddox, Hershel Maddox and Neal Maddox.

Pallbearers are Zach Foster, Chase Landrum, Mason McCord, Frederick Maddox, Bill Freeman and Mike Freeman.

Honorary pallbearers are the ladies of the Joy Sunday School Class.
