Norma Jean Aldridge, 83, of Millport, Al, passed away on April 16, 2021 at her residence. Services will be held April 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joe Nettles officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
She was born on October 29, 1937 in Monroe County, Mississippi to the late Hansel and Aileen Honeycutt. She was a lifelong homemaker who loved children. She was a caregiver for many neighboring children until they were old enough to start school. She loved her family and enjoyed large family gatherings where she cooked dishes of wonderful food; always trying to make something special for everyone. Her sweet potato pies were highly sought after. She also enjoyed gardening, playing dominos, and bluegrass music.
She is survived by her husband, Denzil Aldridge, her son, Dennis Aldridge (Lora), her sisters, Brenda Wade of West Point, MS and Marlene Honeycutt of Vernon, AL. A brother, Hershel Honeycutt of Caledonia, MS. Grandsons Clayton Aldridge (Sara) and Jonathan Aldridge. Granddaughters Elizabeth DeShaw and Malory Aldridge and 5 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hansel and Aileen Honeycutt, her son Douglas Aldridge, her sisters, Martha Ford and Lois Bryant.
Pallbearers are Clayton Aldridge, Roger Long, Jody Wade, Mike Aldridge, Claude Bryant, and Gary Foster.
