Sister Olene Sturdivant Bridges was born January 21, 1945 in Millport, Al and departed life at her home on November 16, 2017. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Mitchell, Step Father Leon Mitchell, brothers, Phillip Sturdivant, Terry Mitchell, and her sister Sandra Ann Mitchell.

Funeral Services will be 12:00 noon Wednesday November 22, 2017 at Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Holy Grove Cemetery. The body will lie-in-state from 11:00 - 12:00 at the church. Visitation will be Tuesday November 21, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 at Dowdle Funeral Home.

At an early age she confessed hope in Christ and became a member of Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the Pastorage of Rev. D.B. Edwards. Also, at an early age she claimed her childhood sweetheart that she later married in holy matrimony. They have been happily married for 52 years. Olene Bridges was the love of his life and his best friend. Out of this union three sons were born. Memories of Sister Olene Bridges will be honored and cherished by her devoted husband, The Rev. Jerry Bridges, Sons Gerald "BamBam" Bridges, Daron Bridges, and Reginald Bridges, father Troy Sturdivant,  nine brothers, Leon "Darla" Mitchell, Jr., Joe Ross Mitchell, Coy "Jeanette" Sturdivant, Michael "Josie" Sturdivant, Roy Sturdivant, Rev. Sammy Mitchell, Melvin "Martha" Mitchell, Lonnie "Melissa" Mitchell, Stanley Sturdivant, eight sisters, Linda Sturdivant, Barbara ReyLi Sturdivant, Teresa Mitchell, Euritha Mitchell, Annie Sturdivant, Shirley Sturdivant, Rhonda Sturdivant, Virginia "Johnny" Odom. mother-in-law Mary Ella Watson, two sister-in-laws Bessie Gardner, Marie "Patrick" Henry, four grandchildren, Gerald Bridges, Jr., Quentin Bridges, Tay Buchanan, and Christopher Cobb, one great granddaughter, Sirinity Cobb and a host of nieces, nephews and friends along with Special God Children, Eddie, Lillian, RaShawn and LaShae Tate.
